EP doctor must enroll in anger management

The Texas Medical Board in Austin ordered El Paso doctor Luis E. Linan to enroll in an anger management course within one year. The board issued the order after reviewing a complaint that he slapped a surgical assistant on the hand, according to board documents.

Linan, 45, an obstetrics and gynecology specialist, agreed to the order. The complaint stemmed from an incident during a 2004 emergency Caesarean section. "During the very stressful surgery, (Linan) slapped (the assistant) on the hand," documents stated.

The El Pasoan was one of 59 doctors statewide the board has disciplined since its February board meeting, board spokeswoman Jill Wiggins said Thursday.
