Japanese Business and Industry Need Anger Management

Japan is not generally identified as society froth with any significant problems in interpersonal conflicts. However, recent reports in the Japan Times Online suggest that there are serious morale problems in the workplace leading to interpersonal conflicts as well as company sabotage.

Currently, Japan has a critical shortage of workers for all job categories. This labor shortage has lead to many workers being forced to work long hours to make up for the shortage of workers. As a consequence, employees are exhibiting evidence of stress, anger, depression, anxiety and inappropriate behavior in relation to their work and problems with their families. Many workers complain that Japanese society has deteriorated with the ending of the lifetime employment system and the replacement of seniority-based promotion systems with ones based on performance.
